Sunil Kumar has over 25 years’ experience in agricultural inputs development and marketing. His longest stint was with Monsanto India Ltd, the global biotechnology giant. At Monsanto, he had worked in the Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Public Affairs departments. Sunil was part of the launch team of Bollgard insect resistant cotton in India that revolutionized cotton cultivation by increasing cotton productivity multi fold in the country. Educating Indian cotton farmers on crop management practices was one of Sunil’s key responsibilities. His close interaction with farmers and opinion leaders helped him take a closer look at farm dynamics and understand the problems and pressing needs of farmers.
Sunil’s rich experience in working closely with farmers made him perpetually think about the best solutions for farmers to make their lives easier and their enterprises more profitable. In early 2012, kick started his own organization, Agventures Corporation® . In his first assignment, thence, Sunil helped African cotton businesses with best agricultural practices for cotton pest control and cotton harvesting solutions. That was when he developed the solar cotton picking machine, filed a patent application and conducted several trials in India and Africa. Sunil continues to spearhead operations of Agventures ® and is deeply involved in product development & marketing. Sunil is a graduate in Agriculture with an MBA in marketing. Sunil Kumar was part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s business delegation to Africa in July 2016. He won the Millennium Alliance Award for top innovators in 2016 & the Ministry of External Affairs Top 20 innovations Award in 2017. He was honoured for the latter at the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas in Bangalore, India on January 9th 2017.
